New Tiger's First Meeting ~ 2006

Fire Station 91 Visit

September of each year brings new life into each Pack in the form of young Tiger Cubs.  This year our newly recruited Tigers had their first meeting at Fire Station 91.  While Mr. Jim worked with the parents of these excited young boys, Andy and Clayton of Den 9 spent time teaching the new Tigers the basics of Cub Scouting... the Bobcat Trail.

After all the questions about Scouting were answered, and the parents had a really good idea of what to expect from Scouting, we let the boys wrap up their activities and craft.

You know what makes a Scout Leader really happy at a meeting of new Scouts?  Having a parent step-up and offer to be the Den Leader for the new Den.  Having Mr. Love volunteer to lead Den 3 certainly made my night!

The Tour:

So, off we went, following the fine firemen of San Bernardino County Fire Station 91, located next to the Lake Arrowhead Village.

These guys are great!  They gave the boys a thorough tour of the medical response vehicle, taught them about the differences in wild land fire equipment and structure fire equipment, and even took each boy through the vehicle.

We then had a chance to go through the larger fire trucks as well, checking out all the attachments, gear, and crew's cab.

The Scouts and their siblings were, of course, constantly gravitating back to the fire pole, but we didn't have a chance to slide down it this time.

We would like to give a great big THANK YOU to all the fire fighters that protect our homes and forests!
